Wedding Photography

Documentary-style wedding photography is a storytelling approach that seeks the natural, candid moments, and encourages a mindful presence to your day. This lends to timeless photos rooted in authenticity, while giving you more time to enjoy each other, your people, and the environment. My hope is that you feel like you have a celebration, not a photoshoot.

I strive to make this an enjoyable and seamless process for my couples, so they can focus on their love and ceremony. See the gallery, kind words, and FAQ’s below.

  • Kind Words

“Blake is incredibly personable and quite a joy to work with…every family member we talked to afterwards only had good things to say, that he felt like a friend and not someone we hired…he went above and beyond, in my opinion, and even included things we didn't expect. Truly blown away at his skill and artistry.”

    – Maki-Lopez

  • “Blake did a great job of capturing the love, not only between my bride and I, but also the love that everyone that attended our wedding had for us. The best part of this entire experience was that we didn't spend much time posing for pictures and we were able to enjoy our wedding. Blake, you’re an amazing human and I think that one thing people should know about you is that you aren't in it to take pictures. You're in it to help people realize how beautiful they truly are.”

    – Riojas

  • “What I love about Blake's photography is that each one draws the viewer into the story as time passes. His photos bring you back for a second, third, fourth look. Each time you see something you didn't notice before. In this way to the story continues to unfold and also in this way, the photo is never stagnant; it moves, and you form the great bond of relationship with the image. Blake is also friendly, thoughtful, funny, and creative and most importantly, he listens to you.”

    – Gallagher

  • “There are no words to describe the feeling I get when I look back at my wedding photos. I see love from my wife, our friends and family coming together to celebrate that love and to finally be married. Blake understood the f-ing assignment!...I was shocked at some of the photos he got—like where were you, how did you get those shots?! Blake worked so well with our vendors- it seemed that he and our videographer knew each other for years when they met only minutes before. He was a joy to have at my wedding, and he captured me feeling the most beautiful I have ever felt…”

    – Pereira

  • “I couldn’t recommend him more! He took the time to listen to our needs, prepare for any changes in weather, and was extremely professional during the entire process. He delivered a beautiful album of our special day and we are so happy with the end result. He really has a beautiful aesthetic.”

    – Crowder

  • “We are overwhelmed with gratitude for the way he captured the day for us…his presence was never imposing and yet he managed to get an extraordinary number of shots. He struck the perfect balance between being funny and personable when he was talking, but mostly he was quietly letting the day roll on as though he wasn't there…the emotion of the day was palpable in the photos…I would recommend Blake to absolutely anyone hoping to remember a day exactly the way it happened.”

    – Litzner

  • “Blake is wonderful to work with and I highly recommend him for any of your photography needs…I'd never done a photo shoot before but Blake made the whole process comfortable and fun. He gives great directions and has creative ideas with angles, lighting, and body position that I would never think of. I especially appreciate Blake's compassion for nature and his mindfulness about the land we all live on and enjoy. You can see this compassion reflected in his talented work. Thank you, Blake!”

    – Leopard

  • “Blake does a fantastic job putting you and your partner at ease in what was for us a first time experience. We weren’t sure how to go about the photoshoot and Blake knew exactly how to coach us at every step of the way while making us laugh :). He didn’t settle for mediocre when it came to positioning and the photos are proof of that!”

    – Horrmann

  • “Working with Blake was the most easeful, genuine, authentic experience I've had of being photographed and the results are AMAZING. I am blown away by Blake's skill, care, and attention to his craft and work. Highly recommend!”

    – Katz

Frequently Asked Questions

  • I treat my photographs as both art and heirloom. My hope is that your images hold a place in your relationship’s heart and that they become a part of your history. I value photography, seeing it as a beautiful medium to record time and I make sure to study and pursue continuing education to better my craft. And to say I’m inspired by nature and our place in it would be putting it lightly, so I always try to get outside for new ideas.

I approach weddings with a documentary style, often referred to as candid or editorial. This is a storytelling approach that showcases the natural, spontaneous moments, and allows you to be more present on your day. Part of what I love about this method is it lends itself to a more timeless appearance, rooted in authenticity, while giving you more time to enjoy each other, your people, and your surroundings. My aim is for you to feel like you are celebrating and not at a photoshoot.

  • I include the following for both weddings and elopements:

Up to 2 hours at your favorite haunt.

    • A complete set of high-resolution images
Delivered via Pic-Time, a personal website where you can share, download, and order from a professional print store.

Delivered in a mix of color, and black and white.

    • A pre-wedding consultation
To meet and chat about what matters most to you.

    • Complete personal-use license
These are your images and you can print, download, and post as much as you like.

    • Assistance with planning
Scouting locations, and, as a certified aviation weather observer (no joke) I can provide timely weather reports as needed.

  • My ideal couple loves each other, loves life, and loves art and photographs that will last multiple generations.

I’ve been with my partner for over a decade now and we’ve explored and learned so much from each other. I truly believe that when we love each other well, we can better love the community around us, ourselves, the environment, and all that the land contains.

I have experience and have enjoyed working with LGBTQ+, BIPOC, and people with disabilities.

If finances are a concern please contact me regardless. I believe everyone deserves beautiful photos. If I’m unable to meet your needs, then I will do my best to offer a personal referral.

  • My fee for weddings and elopements is $3750 within Oregon. Destination prices will vary by location.

Once we review the proposal, you’ll be able to sign an agreement and submit a deposit (half of the total cost), then your day is reserved! The remaining balance is due four weeks before the event date. You have the option to pay in full or we can work on a payment plan if needed.

  • Hell yes! I’m based in Eugene, Oregon, and provide complimentary travel costs within Oregon. Throughout the rest of the Pacific Northwest, (Washington, California, Idaho, and some of Canada), the cost is $4750. Travel cost beyond the PNW varies based on location.

Note: I do have an exception here. If you are getting married in Iceland or Antarctica, I will absolutely travel there at a discounted travel cost!

  • The number of images varies by time covered. For the average 6-10 hour day a couple receives around 500-800 photos. I select my favorites from the bunch and include those in a "highlights” section. Photos are typically delivered 4 weeks after the event date.

These are a complete set of high-resolution images delivered via Pic-Time, a personal website where you can share, download, and order from a professional print store. You can download both full-sized images, great for printing, and web-sized images which are easier to share online. Send those pics to Granny pronto!

The photos have a complete personal-use license, meaning these are your images and you can print, download, and post as much as you’d like (photo credit is always appreciated but never required).

  • I understand the importance of posed group photos and portraits, and have consistently been able to coordinate these in more organic, timely ways throughout the course of the event. My philosophy is not to overpose people. I love seeing how each couple shows up in their own unique way. How you are with each other needs no editing and this perspective allows for more “you” to be represented. For couples portraits, I look for appropriate times to wander away from the group, relax, and allow the couple to reconnect with each other for more intimate moments before rejoining the crowd to cut a rug.

  • Absolutely! Vetted secondary photographers are available for an additional $1000.

I personally select my photographer and believe they are personable, professional, and have some awesome photography skills.

  • Yes! I’m an insured photographer through Professional Photographers of America and can provide proof of insurance to venues if needed. This helps protect both of us in the event that I break a leg shredding on the dance floor.

  • If you like my style and approach please reach out. The first contact is often the most nerve-racking but there is no obligation from our initial consultation. We will meet first for coffee/tea, or online. During this meeting we’ll get more information about your wedding or elopement, you can ask me questions, and we’ll see if I’m a good fit.

After we have our consultation I’ll send you an all-in-one proposal that includes: proposed services, contract, and a deposit. Pretty simple! If you have a particular style in mind or photographer that isn’t me, don’t fret; it’s not time wasted and I will help link you up with more suitable options. My hope is that this is an easy proess for you. I want you to be able to focus on celebrating your love and I’ll focus on taking some beautiful pictures.

I can’t wait to hear from you! To inquire, please reach me directly via the contact page or feel free to learn more about Blake.
